On 17/04 I started the day with a walk around the campus of the University of Kent. It was a lovely spring day. Here you see parts of the main library.
There is the Senate building with a new extension for wheelchair users.
The Gulbankian became a new extension. I expected a larger class front and was a bit disappointed. I also means that the large area in front of the building cannot be utilised as freely as before - this is a shame in spring and summer.
A lot of the building were renamed. This is the old Chemistry building now named "Ingram".
The main sports field also changed. The beach volleyball court had to move further to the cricket field to make way for a new football field.
Another look at the sports fields.
This is one of the new Parkwood courts build on a former sports field. Houses in the "old" Parkwood have only two floor whereas the new ones have three.
The kitchens have been put to the corners...
That's a view towards Purchas Court
That's good, a new laundry area...
... and more parking space...
My old room at Clowes Court
The old way to Woody's has been blocked. Frankly, I don't understand it... You may note the new Woody's extension.
Woody's from the front with the new extensions...
and here is the new extension on its own.
Later we drove to Whitstable for brunch. In the distance you may note the new wind farm.
The Isle of Sheppey (in the distance).
The good old Beach Cafe, the greazy spoon we were heading to.
It was perfect whether for Kite Surfing (although I would have thought the water is too cold to have fun but they were wearing wet suites.)
This view is from the University campus towards town. In the center you can see the Canterbury Cathedral.
The main street of Canterbury looking towards the West Gate...
... and in the other direction.
This is a new coffee house (formerly Clark's shoe store). I noticed that Canterbury is becoming more and more continental with a range of new coffee places.
Cafe Rouge also moved...
We had a few BBQ's during my stay. The green aspargus were delicious as well as the self-made burgers.
(f.l.t.r.) Matt, Carrie, Poul, Ed - having fun :)
This was my car for the days - lovely :)
Matt and I went to Biddenden to get some cider. We used the time for a walk around the vineyards...
